Kino is an international short film workshop where films are made with fellow filmmakers from script to the silver screen in just a few days. Participation fee is 15 € (8 € for students or unemployed).

The workshop begins with a project meeting. During the first day everybody introduces themselves, and people with project ideas present their plans and tell others what they need to accomplish their film (crew, wquipment, locations, props etc.). After that we form filmcrews independently and start making films!
WHAT IS VASTARANNAN KINO (Kino on the other shore)
Vastarannan Kino – Rovaniemi International Kino Kabaret is open for everyone interested in filmmaking. Whether you’re a professional filmmaker, student, hobbyist or a newcomer, everyone is welcome! We especially encourage people from different art fields to join us and offer their fresh perspective on film making.
We aim to have a diverse a group of participants and you can participate in any role in the film crew. Come as a director, cinematographer, actor, editor, 2nd unit grip, sound designer, puppeteer, animator, executive producer… Share your skills or challenge yourself with something new!
Vastarannan Kino is a Kino cell in Finland which started in 2015. We organize international Kino Kabaret workshops in the city of Rovaniemi and this upcoming kino will be our 7th event. We collaborate with the University of Lapland Faculty of Art and Design and with an audiovisual production company Flatlight and event space Y_North.
Vastarannan Kino is a part of the global Kino film-making movement that advocates the production of short-films on little to no budget, using small crews, and non-competitive collaboration. KINO LAB
Kino lab i.e. our working space is located in event space and studio Y_North. You can work and also film in the space and there is a sauna!
ACCOMMODATION
Unfortunately we can’t offer you all accommodation this time, so you might have to book and pay for it yourself. We have a couple of couch places for the participants of kino, so contact us via email if you need one. But be ready to reserve an accommodation by yourself or with other kinoites coming from afar and be fast! We’ll help you get in touch with other participants if you wish to book joint accommodation.

To ensure your place in the workshop you need to pay a participation fee of 15€ (8€ for the students and unemployed), upon e-mail confirmation. If the fee has not been paid by the due date, this counts as a cancellation of your participation. If you pay and later cancel your participation, 50% of the price will be given back to you.
Vastarannan Kino reservers the rights to make changes to the content of this workshop.
