Kino starts on 28th of August at 12:00. During the first day everybody introduces themselves, and people with project ideas present their plans and tell others what they need to accomplish their film. After that people start forming groups independently and start making films!
The films will be screened on the evening of 1st September.

WHAT IS VASTARANNAN KINO
Vastarannan Kino is a part of the global Kino film-making movement that advocates the production of short-films on little to no budget, using small crews, and non-competitive collaboration. Vastarannan Kino is open for everyone interested in film making. Whether you’re a professional filmmaker, student, hobbyist or a newcomer, everyone is welcome! We especially encourage people from different art fields to join us and offer their fresh perspective on film making!
We aim to have as diverse group of participants as possible. You can participate in any role in film crew. Come as a director, cinematographer, actor, editor, 2nd unit grip, sound designer, muse, executive producer… Share your skills or challenge yourself with something new!
EDITING MASTERCLASS
This time Vastarannan Kino puts emphasis on VIDEO EDITING. We are going to have a professional film editor as a tutor, who will share tips, tricks and personal aid. Tutoring is guaranteed for about 8 participants interested in video editing.

KINO LAB
Kino lab i.e. our working space is located in Culture House Wiljami. We also have access to the video & sound studios at the University of Lapland, and we also have access to some of the university’s sound and lighting equipment.
ACCOMMODATION
All participants coming outside of Rovaniemi will be offered accommodation from 28. August to 01. September.

We have space for the first 40 applicants. We will select 8 applicants with the best reasoning/motivation for the editing masterclass. Participants selected for the editing masterclass will be e-mailed at 6th of August latest. Selected participants are encouraged to bring their own editing equipment/software.
To ensure your place in the workshop you need to pay a participation fee of 30€ (15€ for the students of University of Lapland), upon e-mail confirmation. If the fee has not been paid by the due date, this counts as a cancellation of your participation. If you pay and later cancel your participation, 50% of the price will be given back to you.
Vastarannan Kino reserves the rights to make changes to the content of this workshop.
